Job Profile for Industrial Buyer:
Administered from company headquarters and their Tokyo Division, our client’s company supply chain management services include materials purchasing, strategic sourcing, logistics, and contracting services.
Industrial Buyer responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Keep abreast of procurement related trends and developments in the field of Supply Chain Management.

Review existing procedures and practices and recommend changes as new information is developed.

Review assigned purchase requisitions to ensure compliance with set technical and/or commercial criteria.

Develop bidder lists and obtain quotations.

Determine acceptability of the quotations received and make placement recommendations.

Serve as negotiator (working within team) in developing and concluding major material purchases and agreements.

Place purchase orders meeting the technical and/or commercial criteria.

Supervise the assigned Buyer/Assistant Expeditor.

Resolve problems related to material development and/or placement of orders.

Keep supervisor appraised on major subjects.

Assist in resolution of material claims.

Monitor vendors performance and take appropriate corrective action if found deficient.

Report on monthly basis regarding procurement related facts and figures.

Train new Buyer/Buyer Assistants as appropriate.

Interface effectively with all relevant departments.

Perform duties as assigned by the Purchasing Agent or Managing Director.

Travel to tour and inspect vendors’ and manufacturing facilities.

Attend procurement related meetings, seminars and trade fairs when applicable.
Candidate Profile for Industrial Buyer:

A Bachelor degree in relevant field or equivalent tertiary education level.

Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in purchasing of heavy industrial materials.

A good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Good communication skills.

Good knowledge of MS Office and SAP.
